El Paso, TX (eTruePolitics) – In the end, Donald Trump did not leave El Paso by bus.

Seven months after running up a bill of over $500,000 for city services related to a February campaign rally current president Donald Trump still had not paid the financially strained Texas city of El Paso, prompting the city to put a boot on Air Force One.

“He’s not gonna pay?” said a spokesman for the El Paso City Council. “That’s it. We’re taking the plane. The only way Trump is leaving El Paso is by bus.”

The $569,204 bill was originally $470,417.50 before a one-time late fee of 21% in June was tacked on – 30 days after the campaign failed to pay the initial amount owed.

The embarrassing standoff ended on Wednesday evening when Mick Mulvaney, Trump’s chief of staff, wrote a personal check for the entire amount owed.

“Mr. Trump promised he’d pay me back in a week,” a straight-faced Mulvaney told reporters.
