Washington, D.C. (eTruePolitics) – “I received word from a higher power,” vice-president Mike Pence explained at a carefully crafted White House press conference announcing formation of the ‘Republicans Lying For Jesus Foundation.’
“Jesus told me that Republicans have the sacred right to lie to save our American souls,” Pence said.
“Also, Jesus directed me to ask for donations. Minimum $1,000, which comes with a ‘Lie Like Pence’ t-shirt and a copy of a bunny rabbit book.”
The ‘bunny rabbit book’ is “Marlon Bundo’s A Day in the Life of the Vice President” and was written by the vice president’s daughter, Charlotte Pence, and crayoned by second lady Karen Pence, an artist. The book, “gives young readers a bunny’s-eye view of the special duties of the vice president,” per its publisher.
Simultaneously, the comedian John Oliver released a parody book “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver Presents a Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo” – featuring a gay bunny relationship. Alyssa Farah, Pence’s press secretary, called reports that the Oliver book was outselling the Pence bunny book “baseless.”
Fielding questions, Alyssa Farah, Pence’s press secretary said she saw no irony that the ‘Lying For Jesus’ foundation announcement was made at Trump’s White House, while vehemently defending the vice-president’s competence. “Mike Pence does too know things,” Farah explained.
“I hope you’re not criticizing Jesus who Mike Pence loves so much,” Farah warned a scattering of reporters covering the event.
