New York (eTruePolitics) – It seemed like such a good idea. Today, not so much.
Just days after the Republican shellacking in the mid-terms election, current president Donald Trump abruptly decided to cancel a monument honoring ‘America’s co-president’ Steve Bannon.
“Steve deserves it,” tweeted Trump at the time, “he works hard. And, he really, really hates the French. Designed it himself! BIGGEST STATUE EVER!”
The new “Statue of Anarchy” was said to be a ‘thank you’ from Trump to Bannon who had long detested Frederic Auguste Bartholdi’s sculpture, an 1886 gift from France, which, he never tired of repeating, was originally called ‘Liberty Enlightening the World,’ a description Bannon characterized “as nauseating as it gets.”
But, now with his poll numbers cratering, Trump can’t afford Bannon’s heavy and always incendiary baggage. “Bannon’s “toast,” said one gleeful White House staffer who requested anonymity because she feared for her life.
In a related story, White House press secretary Sarah Huckleberry Sanders said that the administration’s still planned to move Plymouth Rock to South Carolina or maybe Georgia.
