MICHAEL COHEN FOUND UNDER A TRUMPWAYS BUS: “I DON’T KNOW,” SAYS WH PRESS SEC SARAH SANDERS WHEN ASKED IF COHEN REMAINS THE CURRENT PRESIDENT’S LAWYER
Washington (eTruePolitics) – Michael Cohen has officially been thrown under the bus.
Before Cohen was surprised by three early-morning search warrants on Tuesday morning, this is what a grim Donald Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One when questioned about his knowledge of a $130,000 hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels made by Cohen, his private attorney, a month before the 2016 election:
“You’ll have to ask Michael Cohen. Michael is my attorney. You’ll have to ask Michael.”
Today, after reports that Cohen had represented disgraced Republican mega donor Elliott Broidy in paying $1.6 million in hush money to a mistress Broidy impregnated, White House press secretary Sarah Huckleberry Sanders said “I don’t know” when asked if Cohen was still Trump’s attorney.
Trump’s remarks were widely seen as the first indication that Cohen is being set up by the president to ‘take the fall’ for the Daniels affair. (And maybe more.) Sanders deafening silence seemed the second indication. The swift New York search warrants were an emphatic strike three.
“If you’re innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?” Donald Trump said at a 2017 campaign rally.
“Christmas in April,” commented Daniels’ attorney Michael Avenatti, who predicted that Cohen would “crack” under the prospect of spending the rest of his life in prison.
Daniels is now cooperating with special counsel Robert Mueller. Everybody is.
